What is the function of a piece of meat that hangs in the back of the throat?!

This piece is called "soft palate" in English uvula, it is from the Latin and means small grape, it has several Simple functions, most important speech, in some languages such as Arabic, Hebrew, German and Turkish where we can find letters called throat letters, which arise from the back of the throat using the soft palate. There are no such characters in English.

Touching the soft palate can cause vomiting; it may also be the cause of snoring, or deep breathing during sleep.

Also noted that people who have a long uvula suffer from the interruption of breathing during sleep, and in some severe cases may be completely or partially eliminated.

The uvula also shut down the respiratory passage in the throat so that food does not enter into the nose.

For humans to drought leads to enlarged uvula and swelling, and its size can get larger up to 5 times the normal size, when amplified and touching the tongue or down the throat it causes a sense of troublesome, problems in eating, drinking and breathing.
